HECTARES OF OUR
OWN VINEYARDS
OMBLANCAS ESTATE
JUMILLA
On the Omblancas estate, around the winery and grown on trellises with drip irrigation, we have our vineyards of Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The non-irrigated varieties, mainly the hallmark grape of the Jumilla region Monastrell, are grown on a nearby estate, called Casa de los Pozos.
JUMILLA, LAND OF MONASTRELL
Although we work with many varieties of red grapes (Syrah, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot), the most representative of Jumilla, and of our winery, is Monastrell. We grow this grape on a large estate 600 to 800 metres above sea level, called Casa de los Pozos. The size of the estate is important to get the best Monastrell. Since this grape is grown without irrigation and is very low yield, the vines have to be spaced further from each other to develop properly.

Monastrell is the variety that grows best in the austere climate of this arid region of Spain, with intense heat in the summer, very cold winter nights and countless hours of sun all year long. The typical soils in the area, pebbly with few nutrients but able to retain water and withstand long periods of drought, help this incredible grape survive the abrupt temperature differences and lack of rain.

These conditions give the grapes a high concentration of essential components, allowing us to make powerful, deeply coloured wines with great structure and intense aromas.
